This piece was awarded the 2024 PULITZER PRIZE for Explanatory Journalism.

In 2025, Thomas fact-checked the entirety of Adam Johnson’s book on the media’s complicity in Israel’s genocide in Gaza, How to Sell a Genocide, published in April 2026.
